Taipaleenjoki - Taipale River
The Soviet advance, that had been going on since November 30th 1939, met the Finnish main defence line in the Karelian Isthmus.
Starting from Finnish Independence Day 6.12 the Soviets tried to break the line in Taipale river. They managed to get a bridgehead across, but despite several, furious attempts and crushing odds, the Soviets failed to break through.
The fighting continued and the front was pressed hard right until the end at March 13th 1940, but the Finnish lines held.
