acrylics 2011, pair of dwarf sauropods Europasaurus holgeri with Compsognathus longipes and Archaeopteryx lithographica. Also featured, a pterosaur Germanodactylus cristatus.
Hurrah, pterosaurs! (I used to be obsessed with my plastic dinosaurs.) This is great -- I especially like the lush foliage; it seems to have just the right balance of detail and indistinctness, and I like the range of color in it. The expressions of the dinosaurs on the ground are very lively, as well. I do think that maybe the wings could use a little more definition -- they seem sort of "cut out" or flat in tone compared to the rest of the image. Maybe just a touch of shading towards the very edges of the wings would help, or a little bit of darker variation in the grey areas. The legs on the sauropods also seem a bit stiff, not quite rounded or 'weighty' enough, particularly the bent one in the foreground. However, their heads look *wonderful,* and I love the color variation in their skin, and the texture -- very "hide-like." Impressive piece!
Yeah, ofcourse there are differences (No great differences) but you must be proud to hear that your paintings look like Todd Marshall's artworks, he's my favorite artist you know!
Don't forget to add a comment to my little gallery! XD (Please know that i'm 11 years old and not such a good artist like you)
I like Todd Marshall's artwork as well. However, before he became "official" paleontological illustrator (working closely with the paleontogists and his works are often first used in the scientific news) his dinosaurs resembled more monsters, than real-life animals. Althought talented man, didn't like them that much. Also, today he has seemed to partly switched into digital art, which isn't always a good choice. I prefer traditional mediums...
Don't compare yourself as "not such a good artist". I've been drawing since I was two, and I still feel like "I could do this better". Your artwork doesn't differ that much from mine, when I was your age. Just keep drawing. Only way one can progress is to work, work and work.
I know, i just checked his site (marshalls-art.com), i didn't know he was switched into Digital Art, i don't like it because i really loved his 'Acrylic' drawings. And if i have to be honest, i'm not a fan of Digital Art because it's a way of art wich is to much with computer and all those things, i like art when you work with your hands!
Can you check my drawings and give a comment please? -I really want to know what i can do better, because always i have done with a drawing i like it but, my biggest wish is to become an artist like 'the good ones', i know i'm still young and have to learn a lot but i really want to be such a good artist like among others; you. -And, is it weird when a drawing fails i'm the whole day pissed?
Please tell me wich one you like the most and wich one you dislike the most!
I really like the effect!
